GetStray

Where we began

People in a neighbourhood may know the dogs around them, while those organising care need information they can act on. Bringing that knowledge together is part of coordinating population management and finding homes. GetStray explored how reports from local people could help connect the animals, the area and the people able to offer care.

How we approached it

Working with MQDC and TRUE, we developed a prototype and explored local reporting through the GetStray application. The pilot approach connected information about stray dogs with sterilisation campaigns in particular areas and opportunities for adoption or foster care. The app was part of an effort to bring local knowledge into coordinated care, beginning with the people who could help describe what was happening in their neighbourhood.
